Humor: You Probably Have Enough Chairs
If you want to inject some humor into your Wednesday, check out this funny article about chairs for the home, from The Onion. We found it via The Story of Stuff Project.
Our opinion? An important part of any interior design project is working with what you have, and making it look great! Good for the budget, and the environment. Vintage finds can also look amazing. Find inspiration in minimalism for a serene and stylish look. Even if you can't go that far, one of the most common decorating "mistakes" we see in client homes is cramming too much (usually too many pieces of furniture) into one room; careful editing allow for more stylish design as well as practical concerns like traffic flow and use patterns.
Finally, making sure anything you no longer need finds a new home (and not the landfill) is also good policy - a garage sale, Craigslist, Freecycle, Ebay and many more options can really help.
When we do acquire new things, makes sense to consider purchases carefully: Is this what we really want/need for the space? It is well made and durable for years of enjoyment? Can we support a local or small company, or an artist with this purchase? Is there a cool and unique vintage option rather than buying new?
Just a few things to think about, as you decorate your home to reflect your tastes and values.
