We thought this simple, clean holiday table was a great inspiration as it's relaxing and not over-done.
Our BEST tips for creating a relaxing, festive holiday atmosphere aren't really about decorating, but we couldn't resist sharing them with you. Our top three pieces of advice are:
1. Remove clutter. Sometimes less is more. It's a good tip for decorating, but it's also a good tip when you're having lots of people (especially in a smaller home). If you're creating a buffet on a side table or countertop, take time earlier in the week or the day before to clear away clutter like the mail, bills, car keys, bowls and appliances.
2. Do Ahead. Do as much in the days before you host as possible, from cleaning to cooking, so you aren't scrambling on the day-of. Check out our do-ahead recipe on the right for inspiration.
3. Take Time for Yourself. Entertaining should be fun, but we know it can be stressful too. Rather than making that fancy dessert or extra side dish, opt for a simpler meal and take the hour or two you save on the holiday for yourself. Read a book, sleep in, take a bath, do something that helps you get in the spirit-- even watch your favorite holiday movie with your family!
